Wando River Bridge Reopens, Lane Directions Return to Normal

As of Saturday, June 2, at 8:30 AM, the South Carolina Department of Transportation has reopened both westbound lanes of the Wando Bridge and returned eastbound lanes to normal traffic direction.

South Carolina Secretary of Transportation Christy Hall said of the reopening, “It is absolutely safe, 100 percent safe.” She also expressed thanks to Lowcountry drivers for their patience: “We know it was a huge inconvenience for you daily and we’re glad we were able to return it to service today.”

Orange traffic barrels will continue to block truck lanes on both bridges to allow work to continue below the bridge deck.
