If you are a federal employee in need of food assistance, please visit the Lowcountry Food Bank at 2864 Azalea Drive, North Charleston to pick up a shutdown relief box. If you are in need of immediate assistance call 211 or online at lowcountryfoodbank.org. The following organizations are also offering assistance:

  • The Junior League of Charleston operates a diaper bank. They work with nonprofits in the area such as Food Bank and ECCO to distribute diapers! Diapers can cost average $936 a year in South Carolina. More info at jlcharleston.org.
  • Point Hope United Methodist Church is collecting gas cards in the increments of $25 and $50 for Coast Guard families during the government shutdown. Master Sargent Chris Taylor is the President of the USCG Low Country CPOA. He says one of the greatest need is gas cards, so these service men and women can get to work.
