Hurricane season is underway, a time for preparation across the Lowcountry. To get listeners ready, Meteorologist Jeb Kristoff with WCBD-TV talked about the predictions for this year’s Atlantic Hurricane season, which runs through November 1. Kristoff broke down the various terms surrounding the storms, providing the difference between a Tropical Depression, Storm and the 5 levels of a Hurricane. He also shared the difference between what a watch is what a warning is. In addition, the meteorologist gave some specific things that Lowcountry residents should be doing now to make certain they are prepared when a major storm is approaching. Kristoff also let us in on what happens behind the scenes as a storm approaches, and their strategy to keep viewers in the know.

GUEST: Alex McCarrell, Founder and Director
ISSUE: Pets & Animal Control
There’s a new animal rescue nonprofit in Mount Pleasant. MeowDog is the new organization, which is a partnership with Lucy Beckham High School. Alex McCarrell is the founder/director of MeowDog and a teacher at Beckham High. She has been able to coordinate the nonprofit work with the veterinary program at the high school and incorporate the students into roles at MeowDog. Mccarrell shared how a student came up with the name, and how the school has worked with MeowDog to become a drop off location for donations. She gave insight into the animals they been able to help and the importance of fostering. Reynolds Lee, the President of Beckman Vets club joined the conversation to share how MeowDog has been a positive for both him personally and the school as a whole.
