GUEST: Cheryl Walden, STEM Community Engagement Specialist

Each spring, the Charleston County School District hosts the Liberty Hill Community STEM Day. Cheryl Walden, a STEM Community Engagement Specialist, provided the specifics on the March 29th free event and spoke of the importance of the event to students. Walden was joined by Deltra Clegg, a CCSD STEM Coordinator who shared a definition of what STEM is, and how it doesn’t replace the “3 R’s” – reading, writing and arithmetic, but instead enhances them.  And Antoinette Green, a CCSD STEM Career Specialist talked about the additional opportunities available to students who are strong in STEM areas, both on the local and national basis. The three also talked about growing STEM with girls, and in minority communities.

GUEST: Dr. Troy Hall, Founder & Ben-Jamin’ Toy, Co-Founder

The majority of those employed in the workforce are unhappy with the direction and coaching, or lack thereof, from people in leadership positions. Dr. Troy Hall, Founder and Ben-Jamin’ Toy, Co-Founder of Cohesion Culture, have written a book entitled “Becoming a Cohesive Leader: The POWERUp Guide to Grow Develop and Advance Your Career. This book has a unique aspect to it, as it works with CARL, a Cohesive Artificial Response Leader, to bring AI to assist in teaching leadership skills. The pair provides some insight into advancing your career, and how even those in management can benefit. Along with sharing their 5 Pillars of Leadership, they gave tips on some things that might assist anyone looking to advance in their position.

Three teens have been hospitalized in critical condition after a shooting at a suburban Denver high school, authorities said Wednesday. The shooting happened around midday at Evergreen High School in Evergreen, about 30 miles west of Denver, Jefferson County Sheriff's Office spokesperson Jacki Kelley said.
